Director's Message for April 2010

Greetings,

If you haven’t registered yet, there is still time to join us on retreat in less than two weeks. The 11th Annual Call To Adventure Retreat and the 23rd Annual Sacred Path Men’s Retreat are your opportunities to join with your brothers and family members as you make a positive contribution to your life. The theme of the retreat revolves around your ability to focus on your personal story and to make the necessary changes that can empower you to experience greater well being. Neuroscience has provided us with the information that the process of Neurogenesis allows our brains to continue to evolve through the duration of our lifetimes. Through the process of Neuroplasticity we can actually alter our neuronal pathways, allowing us to change the way our minds work. In other words, we can change our thinking and edit our personal stories to reflect a more positive or optimistic outlook, therefore transforming our lives to equip us to more adequately fulfill our destinies. I’ve included below a brief piece relating to the personal stories that frame our lives.

I wish to thank those of you that have donated to our scholarship fund. We will be awarding partial and full scholarships to men and boys so that they will be able to attend this retreat. I also received a message this morning from Charlie Atkinson, one of Walter’s sons, indicating that he will match each donation earmarked for the Call To Adventure up to $5,000 from this point forward through the remainder of the year. So if you will consider making your contribution payable to Millennium Oaks Institute, our non-profit partnership managing the Walter Atkinson Memorial Scholarship Fund, Charlie will match your donation, increasing the funds available to support our youth. Please touch base with me to discuss your charitable giving plan.

I, along with the good men of the Sacred Path Wisdom Council, are enthusiastically looking forward to having a great time with you next week on the mountain. Click on the links herewith to download the flier and registration form for either the men’s side of the retreat or the Call to Adventure Rites of Passage part of the retreat.

In brotherhood,
Stephen
